Effects of high-fat and high-sucrose (HF1) diet on expression of drug-metabolizing
enzymes in male and female rats fed SD or HF1 diet for 4 weeks. Rats (7 weeks of
age) were fed the SD or HF1 diet for 4 weeks and then sacrificed. Total RNA was
isolated and analyzed via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction as
described in Materials and Methods. Relative levels were expressed by taking the
control values obtained from SD male animals as 1. Values are the means + S.E. of
5 determinations in each group. *p<0.05, **p<0.01, ***p<0.001 for HF1 male rats
versus SD male rats or HF1 female rats versus SD female rats; #p<0.05, ##p<0.01,
###p<0.001 for SD female rats versus SD male rats.
