Abstract
In "Metabolism of Carbidopa [L-(-)-α-Hydrazino-3,4-dihydroxy-α-methylhydrocinnamic Acid Monohydrate], an Aromatic Amino Acid Decarboxylase Inhibitor, in the Rat, Dog, Rhesus Monkey, and Man," by S. Vickers, E. K. Stuart, J. R. Bianchine, H. B. Hucker, M. E. Jaffe, R. E. Rhodes, and W. J. A. VandenHeuvel, in the January/February 1974 issue of Drug Metabolism and Disposition, vol. 2, no. 1, pp. 9-22, the second sentence of the introduction on p. 9 should read as follows (changed word in italics):
It is of interest in the therapy of Parkinson's disease as a means of inhibiting the extracerebral metabolism of L-dopa and thus decreasing the dosage requirement of L-dopa and possibly, therefore, decreasing those side effects which are secondary to high levels of the amino acid in the periphery (2-5).
