REIDENBERG A1 JOHN H. MARTIN YR 1974 UL http://dmd.aspetjournals.org/content/2/1/71.abstract AB Because patients developing systemic lupus erythematosus after taking hydralazine have been shown to be genetic slow acetylators, we determined the acetylator phenotype of 14 patients with spontaneous systemic lupus erythematosus. Ten were unequivocally slow acetylators, one was probably slow, one was indeterminate by our method of phenotyping using dapsone, and two were rapid acetylators. This predominance of slow acetylators is different from the expected even distribution of slow and rapid acetylators in the population.
