Perfusion Rate (ml/min) | Glomerular Filtration Rate (ml/min) | Urine Flow (μl/min) | Fractional Sodium Reabsorption | Fractional Glucose Reabsorption | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Control | 35.5 ± 3.3 | 0.51 ± 0.04 | 105 ± 25 | 88 ± 3% | 92 ± 3% |
IF | 36.8 ± 3.9 | 0.48 ± 0.04 | 126 ± 30 | 86 ± 3% | 89 ± 3% |
Each perfusion experiment consisted of a 30-min control period during which IF was absent from the perfusate, a 10-min equilibration period during which IF (77 μmol) was added to the perfusate, and a 30-min experimental period during which IF was present in the perfusate. Measurements were performed during control and experimental periods. Glomerular filtration rate was calculated by dividing the product of urine polyfructosan concentration and urine flow rate by the arterial perfusate polyfructosan concentration. Fractional reabsorptions of sodium and glucose were determined by dividing the solute’s absolute reabsorption by the amount of solute filtered and multiplying by 100%. Results are mean ± SE of four experiments.
