The lipoprotein subclasses were prepared from rat serum by sequential ultracentrifugation at the following relative densities: chylomicron, <1.006 g/ml; very low- plus low-density lipoproteins (VLDL + LDL), 1.006–1.063 g/ml; HDL, 1.063–1.21 g/ml.
