The data are the mean ± S.D. The number of patients with inherited disorders was 25, 6, and 2 for 0- to 4-, 5- to 8-, and 9- to 16-year old children, respectively. The number of patients with malignant diseases was 27, 17, and 24 for 0- to 4-, 5- to 8-, and 9- to 16-year-old children, respectively. Statistical comparisons were made between disease categories within a single age group using the Mann-Whitney U test.
