NAcT was purified from porcine kidney, and the activities of NAcT, withS-(4-nitrobenzyl)-l-cysteine as the substrate, acetyl-CoA hydrolase, and aminoacylase, withS-(4-nitrobenzyl)-N-acetyl-l-cysteine as the substrate, were determined as described in Experimental Procedures.
