Rats were given saline or DCA (1.2 mmol/kg) for 5 days, and tissue homogenates were prepared as described under Materials and Methods. GSTZ1-1 activities were determined with CFA as the substrate. Reaction mixtures contained 150 to 500 μg of tissue homogenate protein, chlorofluoroacetic acid (1 mM), and glutathione (1 mM) and were incubated for 20 min; the amount of glyoxylate formed was determined spectrophotometrically, as described under Materials and Method. Data are shown as means ± S.E.,n = 3.
