TABLE 5

Effect of perinatal low-protein diets on activities of testosterone hydroxylases in 28- and 65-day-old male and female rats

Testosterone 6β-hydroxylase activity is routinely used as a marker of CYP3A1 activity in females and CYP3A1 and CYP3A2 activity in males. Testosterone 2α-hydroxylase activity is routinely used as a marker of CYP2C11 activity in males and CYP2C6 activity in females. Testosterone 7α-hydroxylase activity is routinely used as a marker of CYP2A1 activity. Values are mean (S.D.), n = 7–8. Differences between low-protein diet groups and the nonpurified diet group were not evaluated.
