Amount of chlorogenic acids transported by gastric epithelial monolayers and associated log D and permeability coefficients

Cultures were incubated (40 min) in the presence of coffee solution containing 1445 nmol of total CGAs (see Table 1). Apical, pH 3 (0.5 ml); basal, pH 7.4 (1.5 ml). Total recovery of CGAs was 91%; CGAs with no observed permeation were not presented. The permeability coefficient is expressed as ×10−6 cm/s ± S.D., mean of three culture samples. Values in italics are initial (at 10 min) permeability measurements. %Apical dose, values in parentheses indicate the amount of each individual CGA expressed as a percentage of the total CGA content.
