2017, Pharmacological ResearchCitation Excerpt :The focus of CYP-related research at the University of Queensland, led by Professor Elizabeth Gillam, is enzymes involved in human drug metabolism and toxicology. Building on expertise in heterologous expression of CYP enzymes in E. coli [for example, [148–153] and an interest in structure-function relationships determining substrate selectivity [152–155], research in the last 10 years has moved to the exploitation of P450s in drug discovery and development. CYP enzymes show considerable potential in the regio- and stereo- selective functionalization of complex molecules.
