2022, Pharmacology and TherapeuticsPregnane X receptor promotes liver enlargement in mice through the spatial induction of hepatocyte hypertrophy and proliferation
2022, Chemico-Biological InteractionsCitation Excerpt :Pregnane X receptor (PXR), also known as steroid and xenobiotic receptor (SXR), is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily that was discovered in 1998 [11]. PXR is highly expressed in the liver and plays an important role in xenobiotic metabolism, inflammation, and cell proliferation [12]. Pregnenolone-16α-carbonitrile (PCN), a specific mouse PXR agonist, was found to significantly enlarge rat liver [13].
Saikosaponins and the deglycosylated metabolites exert liver meridian guiding effect through PXR/CYP3A4 inhibition
2021, Journal of EthnopharmacologyRNA interference screen identifies NAA10 as a regulator of PXR transcription
2019, Biochemical PharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Among these, Zhang et al. demonstrated that the CYP1A inducers β-naphthoflavone and 3-methylcholanthrene marginally increase rat PXR (Nr1i2) mRNA levels, which shares 78% sequence identity with the human PXR. Similarly, the CYP2B inducer phenobarbital also minimally increases Nr1i2 mRNA levels [43]. The CYP3A inducers isoniazid, dexamethasone, pregnenolone-16a-carbonitrile, and troleandomycin exert differential effects.
