Several studies suggested the association of IL-6 as direct administration of this cytokine diminished the Pgp mRNA level and protein expression in hepatic cell lines as well as in vivo in mice [21,22]. In humans, intestinal epithelium showed a decrease in Pgp expression in inflammatory conditions [23].
