2021, ToxicologyCitation Excerpt :UGTs are involved in the detoxification of small exogenous toxic molecules by manipulating glucuronidation, through which hydrophilic compounds generated by cytochrome P450 from lipophilic metabolites are conjugated with glucuronic acid, and therefore making the compounds easily transported outside the cells (Wang et al., 2014). UGTs are induced in the liver during hepatitis (Debinski et al., 1995). In addition, four marker genes for hepatotoxicity including zgc:163022 and zgc:154142 involving in oxidoreduction processes, a cytochrome P450 gene cyp24a1 involving in congenital disorder of metabolism and tcap involving in the disease of dilated cardiomyopathy (Driessen et al., 2014) were induced by ustilaginoidin D (Fig. 6C).
