The kinetic basis for age-associated changes in quercetin and genistein glucuronidation by rat liver microsomes
2010, Journal of Nutritional BiochemistryEpilepsy in the Elderly: Scope of the Problem
2007, International Review of NeurobiologyCitation Excerpt :The decrease in oxidative metabolism (cytochrome P450) of some drugs in the elderly has been theorized to be due to changes in liver blood flow and liver mass as one ages (Woodhouse and Wynne, 1988). However, on the basis of very limited information, changes in the glucuronidation reactions appear to be spared with aging (Herd et al., 1991; Woodhouse and Herd, 1993). Despite the theoretical effects of age‐related physiological changes on drug disposition and the widespread use of AEDs in the elderly, few studies on AED pharmacokinetics in the elderly have been published.
