Preclinical validation of silibinin/albumin nanoparticles as an applicable system against acute liver injury
2022, Acta BiomaterialiaCitation Excerpt :As a natural molecule with favorable biocompatibility, biodegradability, facile surface functionalization and hydrophobic characteristics, albumin has gained increasing attention and is popularly utilized in nanomedicine. In plasma, silibinin mainly exists as a conjugated form of sulfates and glucuronides [36], and serum albumin exerts a strong binding capacity to hydrophobic anionic compounds [37]. In the mixture solution, free silibinin molecule were encapsulated with albumin and no longer aggregated into hydrophobic microparticles.
Evaluation of silymarin extract from Silybum marianum in mice: anti-fatigue activity
2022, Food Science and Human WellnessCitation Excerpt :In recent years, the antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities of the isomers of silymarin were elucidated by in vitro and in vivo studies. However, there has been little quantitative analysis of the possible anti-fatigue function of silymarin [12,13]. Fatigue is defined as physical and/or mental tiredness resulting in negative impacts on exercise efficiency, work performance, family life, and social relationships [14].
