The clinical usage and definition of autoantibodies in immune-mediated liver disease: A comprehensive overview
2018, Journal of AutoimmunityCitation Excerpt :It stains hepatocyte cytoplasm and proximal renal tubules of human and primate tissue sections, thus hampering its testing in clinical practice, although it has been described in up to 19% of AIH type 2 patients, at times as the only serological marker [105–107]. The target antigen is family 1 uridine 5′-diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase (UGT-1) [106]. Anti-LKM1 is detected also in a proportion ranging from 0 to 13% of patients with chronic hepatitis C (HCV) infection [108,109].
Cutting edge issues in autoimmune hepatitis
2016, Journal of AutoimmunityAutoimmune hepatitis - Update 2015
2015, Journal of HepatologyCitation Excerpt :This drug was withdrawn from clinical use in 1980. Anti-LKM3 antibodies are specific for members of the uridine glucuronosyltransferase family 1 [43] and give an immunofluorescence pattern similar to anti-LKM1 [44]. Although anti-LKM3 is most commonly detected in patients with hepatitis D (delta), it is also present in some 10% of patients with AIH-2 and in some cases may be the only serological marker of AIH [45].
