Methionine (10 mM) was incubated with liver or kidney microsomes and NADPH-dependent methionine sulfoxide formation was measured by HPLC. Data are presented as means ± S.D. of specific activity (nmol sulfoxide/mg protein · min). Species comparisons (same tissue/sex) were made using one-way ANOVA (α = 0.05), followed by least-significant difference analysis. Data with the same superscript are not significantly different (p < .05).
