Protective function on liver and proteomic analysis of the improvement mechanism of Sedum sarmentosum Bunge extract on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in Nile tilapia
2021, AquacultureCitation Excerpt :In humans and mice, many biochemical parameters have been found to be altered in NAFLD including pathological indexes, enzymic markers, inflammatory regulators and factors (Berry et al., 1992; Pawlak et al., 2015). Previous studies have demonstrated that the expression levels of lipid metabolism-related proteins (FAS and L-FABP), lipid metabolites (FFA and TG), and linoleic acid are altered in NAFLD (Berry et al., 1992; Wu et al., 2014; Zhang et al., 2015; Xie et al., 2016). These factors participate in lipid synthesis, storage, transport and catabolism; and are regulated by multiple transcription factors including PPARs, X receptors, and cAMP response element-binding protein (Anderson et al., 2004; Calkin and Tontonoz, 2012; Zhang et al., 2012).
Hepatoprotective and antioxidant effects of dietary Glycyrrhiza polysaccharide against TCDD-induced hepatic injury and RT-PCR quantification of AHR2, ARNT2, CYP1A mRNA in Jian Carp (Cyprinus carpio var. Jian)
2017, Journal of Environmental Sciences (China)Citation Excerpt :The activity and leakage of cytosolic enzymes (GOT, GPT, AKP, LDH) have frequently been used to assess liver toxicity caused by chemical drugs (Fouzy et al., 2007; Turkez et al., 2016). GPT, GOT and LDH, the soluble enzymes, were found to be released from the cytoplasm of liver cells (Berry et al., 1992; Mitra et al., 1998; Romero et al., 1998), and their activities have been considered as classical indicators of liver or hepatocyte injury (Kalaiselvan et al., 2016; Turkez et al., 2016). Alkaline phosphatase (AKP) is an isoenzyme and widely distributed in the liver.
Effects of curcumin on antioxidative activities and cytokine production in Jian carp (Cyprinuscarpio var. Jian) with CCl<inf>4</inf>-induced liver damage
2015, Fish and Shellfish ImmunologyCitation Excerpt :The expression of IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-12 mRNAs was also significantly increased after CCl4 treatment (P < 0.01; Fig. 7A–C), whereas the expression of IL-1β and TNF-α mRNAs in the liver was significantly reduced in the carp fed 0.5% and 1.0% curcumin for 60 days and then treated with CCl4 compared with those treated with CCl4 alone (P < 0.05; Fig. 7A,B) and IL-12 mRNA expression in the liver was significantly reduced after CCl4 treatment in the carp fed with any dose of curcumin (P < 0.05; Fig. 7C). It has been demonstrated that CCl3O2·, the metabolite of CCl4, causes lipid peroxidation, blocking the production of membrane proteins and resulting in the exudation of soluble cytoplasmic enzymes and increased serum GOT, GPT, and LDH [25]. In this study, 0.5% and 1.0% curcumin significantly inhibited the increased serum GOT levels induced by CCl4 in Jian carp, and 1.0% curcumin markedly suppressed the increases in serum GPT and LDH induced by CCl4.
